Staff Support Services are confidential and available to all GHT staff. The service aims to support people in any difficult situation either at work or at home.
Why have this service?
Most people at some stage have difficulties that they have trouble dealing with on their own.
- Difficult relationships at work or feeling unsupported.
- Feeling “stressed” at work or home or supporting others under stress.
- Dealing with disciplinary or grievance procedures.
- Loss of confidence.
- Coping with high workloads.
- Adjusting to change either at work or home.
- Dealing with challenging patients or incidents at work.
Psychological Therapists are trained to help with these and other issues.
The service gives people the opportunity to:
- Talk openly about any worries or concerns.
- Gain perspective and better understanding of any difficulties.
- Develop strategies and skills for dealing with problems.
The majority of staff support work is about supporting individual staff members, however we also offer: support for managers and support for groups and teams.
How can I refer myself to Staff Support?
Staff support offers a confidential self referral counselling service, based within the Health Psychology Department. You can refer yourself by completing the online referral form. We are also happy to take referrals by telephone (0300 4228523) and e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org).
People come to Staff Support with all sorts of difficulties and issues, which may impact on them emotionally, or on their performance at work. However, it is important to note that we are unable to offer emergency support. If you feel you are currently experiencing a crisis please also contact your GP, or other services such as the Samaritans to seek urgent support.
You are welcome to contact Staff Support Service Admin Team, who manage appointment bookings if you want information on likely waiting times, or if you wish to arrange or rearrange an appointment. Telephone - 0300 4228523.
If you wish to discuss how we might be of help to you and/or your team, please e-mail the Staff Support Service. E-mail - email@example.com.
GRH: Beacon House - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
CGH: Occupational Health - Tuesday morning.
Was the service helpful?
People attending the service have found it useful to anonymously share their experiences and what helped them manage with other staff. This can provide reassurance for others in similar situations. We have developed a client diary to enable people to do this. The diaries are available from your therapist, and can also be completed online.
All diaries will be reviewed to ensure that they protect the confidentiality of staff completing them before sharing with other clients attending the service, or posting on the Staff Support webpage. The first page of the diary asks for your permission to anonymously share the information.
