Obstetrics

Obstetrics is the branch of medicine concerned with pregnancy and birth.

Services Provided

Pregnant women are usually seen initially at home, by their community midwife, who will discuss and agree an individual plan for their antenatal care. If appropriate, some cases are referred on to the hospital where the referral information is reviewed. The patient may then be contacted to arrange tests or an outpatient appointment with an obstetrician if appropriate. Antenatal clinics are held at Cheltenham, Gloucester, Cirencester, Dilke, Lydney and Stroud.
