Field Road, Stroud, GL5 2JB

Stroud maternity unit is a small midwife led centre that helps deliver around 300 births every year, and offers a home from home environment for new parents.

Our team of experienced midwives will help you have an active birth, and can advise on alternative forms of pain relief, like aromatherapy and use of the birthing pool.

Facilities

Our rooms have all been individually designed to create a comfortable and calm environment for you, your birth partner and your baby. This includes:

  • birthing pools
  • en suite rooms, with facilities for your birth partner to stay overnight

After you have had your baby, you can stay at Stroud maternity unit for extra care and support. This is also available if you have given birth in another unit.

Information:

Stroud's postnatal beds are temporarily suspended. All other services are operating as normal

Information:

If you need an epidural or there is an unexpected problem with you or your baby, you will be transferred to the delivery suite at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

It’s more likely you will need to transfer from Stroud maternity unit to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital if this is your first baby.

Visiting

We are generally flexible with visiting times and number of visitors, so please check beforehand with your midwife.
