What to expect
You will receive one on one care from your midwife, so that you and your birthing partner feel at home in our intimate birth centre. Each room is different but all of our suites include the small details to make a difference.
Our midwives are trained to provide pain relief, such as Entonox (gas and air) and Pethidine. If you wish to have an epidural, you would need to go to our delivery suite at the Women’s Centre in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
Once your labour is over, you won’t have to move to a ward. You and your partner will be given the time and space to get to know your baby.
You may be advised against giving birth in a midwifery-led unit, if you’re considered to be at increased risk of complications:
- at the beginning of your pregnancy
- as your pregnancy develops
- during labour
