We aim to provide our patients with the best possible cardiac care and treatment.

Our team of specialist cardiologists provide a full range of cardiac (heart) care for our patients in the treatment and prevention of heart conditions.

Our cardiac catheter labs allow us to work at the forefront of cardiac interventions and we treat both inpatients and elective patients at Gloucestershire Royal Hospitals.

About us

Our cardiology services are spread across Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals. Outpatient clinics are also held at the following community hospitals in the county:

  • Cirencester Hospital
  • The Dilke Hospital
  • Lydney Hospital
  • Moreton-in-Marsh Hospital
  • Stroud General Hospital
  • Tewkesbury Hospital

General and interventional cardiology

Our team of experienced cardiologists care for patients with coronary artery disease, valve disease and simple arrhythmias not requiring specialist electrophysiology.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Service

If you are recovering from a heart attack or have been diagnosed with a heart problem, your health care team might suggest you join one of our cardiac rehabilitation programmes. These are medically supervised programmes of exercise, emotional support, diet and exercise that can help improve your quality of life and help you manage your condition.

Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic

Our Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic (RACPC) provides quick and early specialist cardiology assessment for patients with new onset of chest pain thought likely to be angina. It also provides urgent assessments for patients who are not currently being treated by a cardiologist, who have known ischaemic heart disease and worsening symptoms.

Inpatient care

Patients who need to stay with us as an inpatient are treated at either the Coronary Care Unit or Cardiac Ward at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital or on the Cardiac Unit at Cheltenham General Hospital.
