Snowshill and Bibury Ward
Both Snowshill and Bibury Ward specialises in treating patients having planned orthopaedic surgery at Cheltenham General Hospital.
Our is aim to provide all patients with high-quality care from staff experienced in orthopaedics. Most patients are admitted to our ward after they have had planned surgery.
What to expect
You will come onto this ward after you have had your operation unless you were admitted the previous evening.
Patients who are having hip and knee replacements usually stay on the ward for five days, before they go home.
Getting up and about as soon as possible is an important part of rehabilitation, and patients are encouraged to wear their own day clothes as much as possible.
Mealtimes
- Breakfast: 8am
- Lunch: midday
- Dinner: 6pm
All meals are served from a hot trolley, apart from breakfast, and drinks are available throughout the day. Find out more about food and drink at our hospitals.
Going home
When you arrive on the ward, your nurse will tell you how long we expect your stay in the hospital to be.
You should make plans and preparations for your discharge, including how you will manage once you return home. We are unfortunately unable to provide hospital transport to take you home.
Before you are discharged from the hospital, you may receive:
- an outpatient appointment
- a practice nurse appointment
- medication and support from the physiotherapist and occupational therapist
If you have any other questions, please speak to the nursing staff on the ward.
