Help fund new scalp cooling equipment at our hospitals
Each year, more than 5,000 people receive chemotherapy and other cancer treatments at Gloucestershire Oncology Centre.
Your support can help fund new scalp cooling equipment to help make a real difference for our local patients.
Many people value opportunities that help them feel more like themselves during their treatment. Preventing hair loss, where possible, can play an important role in maintaining wellbeing and a sense of normality during what is often a challenging time.

Scalp cooling technology offers patients the option to help reduce hair loss during chemotherapy by limiting blood flow to the scalp. This helps protect the hair follicles from treatment drugs. Demand for this equipment is high, and each machine can support two patients at the same time.
Thanks to the kindness of our donors, the charity has already funded four scalp cooling machines - but more are needed.
Your support can help give more local patients choice, comfort and confidence when it matters most.
“Beginning cancer treatment can bring many changes, and for some patients, concerns about hair loss are an important part of that experience. Being able to offer scalp cooling gives people a positive choice during treatment and interest has grown significantly among both men and women. This new appeal aims to fund additional equipment so we can meet this increasing demand and ensure more people are able to benefit.”
