The New Club Cheltenham announce three-year charity partnership to support The Big Space Cancer Appeal
Last month guests, friends and supporters gathered at The New Club Cheltenham for a celebratory dinner to launch the new partnership with Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity.
Based in Montpellier, The New Club has been at the heart of Cheltenham’s social scene 1874. The event saw guests gather to hear from keynote speaker - Consultant Clinical Oncologist, Dr Sam Guglani - on how the Club’s support will help transform cancer care in the community. The event raised over £1,500 on the evening as a fantastic start to the partnership.
The Big Space Cancer Appeal is raising funds for a new cancer centre that will offer local patients the very best environment for treatment, healing and recovery. The space will offer modern clinical spaces, access to digital consultations and peaceful therapeutic gardens.
Arlene McGlynn, Philanthropy Manager at Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity, said “It was a wonderful evening hearing Dr Sam Guglani’s inspiring talk, and the stunning setting made the evening feel even more special. Nearly everyone in the room had a personal connection with the appeal, either directly or through friends and family members.”
“We are incredibly grateful to The New Club Cheltenham and its members for their generosity and commitment to The Big Space Cancer Appeal. Partnerships like this make a real and lasting difference for patients and their loved ones, as well as our amazing NHS staff. Together, we are working towards creating a true legacy for our community.”
“As a Club, we have thought carefully about our role in the community, and our responsibility within it. We wanted to partner with a charity that truly resonates with our members and Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity does exactly that. Cancer touches almost everyone in Cheltenham, and certainly there cannot be anyone here at the Club who has not been affected, either personally or through someone close to them.” “We all want, if we or our loved ones are ill, to be treated not just with skill, but with dignity and understanding. That is what The Big Space Cancer Appeal is working to provide, and that is why it matters. This is a three-year partnership, so my aim is to get people genuinely involved. I want members to feel this is something they are personally part of, not just something we support at a distance.”
