The Big Chill 25

Big Chill When the clocks go back, we go in! 24 October 2026 to 25 October 2026 Cheltenham Lido
Big Chill

Are you brave enough?

Cheltenham Lido and Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity presents The Big Chill 25 - a brand new endurance swimming challenge to mark the extra hour we gain when the clocks change.

On October 24/25th, teams will take on 25 hours of continuous cold-water swimming, raising money for two incredible local causes: Cheltenham Lido and The Big Space Cancer Appeal.

Set in the safety of Cheltenham Lido, this challenge invites participants to test their resilience and teamwork through the night. Teams will rotate swimmers to keep their lane moving for the full 25 hours - all in the name of community spirit, determination, and fundraising.

How it Works

  • Teams or solo swimmers take on a continuous 25-hour swim
  • 10 lanes available, with one swimmer per lane in at all times
  • Participants can swim in teams of up to 10, or smaller if brave enough!
  • Teams can camp overnight poolside, taking turns to complete their relay
  • Hot food, drinks and a warm-up base available throughout

All money raised will be split equally between Cheltenham Lido and Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity.
