This is the 2022 appeal from Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust Organ Donation Committee to help the county’s organ donation team.

Can you help to give the gift of life to people in Gloucestershire?

Ian Mean, chair of the committee said:

“As we start 2022, I can think of no better way in which you can help your local hospitals’ organ donation team delivering the gift of life by becoming involved with us.

Your support for the organ donation team in their work and help with events we organise and attend will be invaluable. So, the organ donation team in Gloucestershire is looking for volunteers to help us raise awareness of organ donation in our local area.

We are looking for passionate people of all talents to help us to engage with the local community to increase the awareness of organ and tissue donation-particularly with schools and at events.

You or your family may have been touched by organ donation and transplantation in some way. This could be your opportunity to say thank you.”

In Gloucestershire, 437 000 people are on the NHS Organ Donation Register (ODR), and over the last 21 months since the pandemic started there were 18 donors and 47 organs transplanted into 46 recipients.
