Cervical Screening (Smear) appointments at GRH for staff and the public

10 Feb 2026, 4:10 p.m.

The gynaecology service at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital is offering cervical screening (smear) appointments for staff and members of the public

  • Can’t get an appointment with your GP?
  • Feeling unsure about the process?
  • Worried about seeing a male clinician?

Our team is an all-female group of nurses who are friendly, understanding and non-judgemental. We welcome people from all backgrounds.

A cervical screening test is simple and takes around ten minutes.

For anyone whose smear test is due (they will have received a letter or prompt), the team offer booked appointments or a drop-in service on the last Saturday of every month in gynaecology outpatients at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

  • The next clinic is Saturday 21 February 09:30-12:30.
  • To book, please call 07813 400096.

We recognise that people from certain cultural backgrounds and LGBTQ+ communities may face particular barriers to attending cervical screening. These can include previous healthcare experiences, cultural or religious considerations, concerns about privacy or dignity, or fear of being misunderstood or misgendered.

This clinic is for anyone with a cervix, including women, trans men and non-binary people. It has been designed to provide a calm, respectful and supportive experience.

Our all-female tea of nurses are experienced and compassionate and aim to provide care that is respectful, non-judgemental and inclusive. Appointments are unhurried, and you are welcome to ask questions, discuss any concerns and take breaks if needed.
