Gloucestershire’s Organ Donation Committee are seeking recruits to help give the gift of life to local people
Ian Mean, chair of the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Organ Donation Committee said:
“As we start the New Year we are appealing for people to join us as volunteers to help raise awareness of organ donation in the county.
“We want volunteers to help us engage with our local communities - particularly to help raise the profile of organ and tissue donation with schools and at events.
“You or your family may have been touched by organ donation in some way and this could be your opportunity to say thankyou. Volunteers need to have no medical background but just be passionate to help us. After all, the gift of life is the greatest gift that someone can ever give.”
There are currently over 8,000 people waiting for a transplant across the United Kingdom and one person dies every day because they did not get the transplant they so badly needed.
Volunteers should contact Ian Mean if they are interested for more information: words@iantaylormean.co.uk
