Inclusive arts project transforms Changing Places facilities
The Changing Places facilities at Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital have been transformed through a new arts project designed to create more welcoming, engaging and inclusive environments for patients and families.
The vibrant artwork has turned previously blank walls into uplifting scenes, with a strong focus on inclusion and sensory engagement. The project was developed through a collaborative process, with artist Alice Humphreys working closely with families who regularly visit the hospitals and use the facilities.
Their lived experience and feedback helped shape the themes, imagery and overall design, ensuring the artwork responds meaningfully to the needs of those who use the spaces most.
The project highlights the role that creative interventions can play in improving healthcare environments, particularly in spaces designed to support people with complex disabilities and their carers.
The artwork was created by Alice Humphreys and coordinated by the Arts in Trust programme which supports inclusive and accessible environments through creative approaches to health and wellbeing.
Thanks are extended to everyone involved in bringing the project to life and helping create spaces that are not only functional, but also welcoming, engaging and accessible for all.
We are so grateful to our hospitals charity for continuing to support the arts at our Trust.
