Quality Summit: Hospital Acquired Pressure Ulcers (31 July 2025)

27 May 2025, 11 a.m.

We are holding a Quality Summit on 31 July 2025 at Sandford Education Centre, Cheltenham General Hospital to explore a number of issues identified through investigating hospital acquired pressure ulcers (HAPUs).

The summit will be facilitated by Gloucestershire Safety and Quality Improvement Academy and Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Lead Tissue Viability Nurse, Monique Maries.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with colleagues from Gloucestershire Hospitals to identify issues and take forward quality improvement initiatives with the intention of having positive outcomes for both patients and colleagues.

On 31 July, together, we will explore the issues arising from HAPUs in depth with staff who carry out the work thereby ensuring we are looking at the issues as ‘work as done’ rather than how it is envisaged. We will also be learning about improvements in the past year relating to HAPUs and the proposal for investigating HAPUs using hot debriefs.

What is a Quality Summit?

A quality summit is a multi-disciplinary collaborative of staff and stakeholders, who together use their collective knowledge and wisdom to explore complex issues with the intention of bringing about measurable and sustainable improvement, through the coordinated use of systems based diagnostic approaches and quality improvement methodology. All staff are welcome!

Following the quality summit we will be supported by the quality improvement team and Gloucestershire Safety and Quality Improvement Academy (GSQIA) to prioritise the issues and take forward the agreed quality improvement projects.
