About the awards
Each year, our staff awards aim to recognise the hard work, dedication and amazing care given by both individual colleagues and teams at our hospitals.

Message from our Chief Executive, Kevin McNamara
This year has brought renewed focus for the health service nationally with the launch of the Government’s 10 Year Health Plan for England, a vision shaped by the voices of patients, staff and communities. It marks a period of transformation but also one of opportunity to continue improving care for everyone we serve.
At a time of uncertainty and change in the NHS, I was asked whether it is appropriate to hold an award ceremony. My view is that it absolutely is. Finding one evening each year to come together and celebrate our people is not a distraction from our challenges, it is an affirmation of why we do what we do. Moments like this give us the chance to pause, to lift morale and to remind ourselves of the difference we make every day. My thanks go to our Charity and sponsors for helping to make this special event possible.
Against this backdrop, our annual Staff Awards shine even more brightly. They offer a moment to reflect and recognise those who live our values of caring, listening and excelling. With refined categories, a transparent process and a record number of nominations – more than 800 this year – the awards showcase the best of who we are as a Trust: compassionate, resilient and united.
Working in the NHS is both a privilege and a responsibility. Each of you contributes to making our hospitals places where patients feel safe, cared for and listened to, and where staff feel valued and supported. Together we are building a sustainable future for our services and our community.
To all our nominees, finalists and winners, thank you. You represent the very best of Gloucestershire Hospitals. But beyond the awards, I want every member of our team to know how deeply appreciated you are. The compassion, professionalism and teamwork you demonstrate every day define our organisation and bring our vision of Best Care for Everyone to life, every day.
Whether you are attending the ceremony as a finalist or to support a colleague, I hope you enjoy this well-deserved celebration of everything we have achieved together. And for our patients and visitors reading online, please know that the stories shared here reflect only a small part of the dedication, resilience and excellence that define our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals.

Message from our Chair, Deborah Evans
As we head into winter, we could all use a little sunshine in Gloucestershire and that is exactly what these Awards bring, if not in weather then certainly in spirit. Over the past year, our two main hospital sites, Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, together with our community-based services, have continued to evolve to meet the needs of our patients and local communities.
The NHS has faced another challenging year, yet our dedicated staff and volunteers have shown remarkable resilience, commitment and compassion. Their work makes a profound difference every day and we extend our heartfelt thanks to them all. This has never been more important as we continue to experience relentless demand across our services. In these moments, it truly takes a collective effort, from our frontline teams and ward staff to our partners in the community. Their dedication and willingness to go above and beyond ensure that we continue to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care, even in the face of sustained challenge.
Whatever the external pressures, it is our people who provide the vital connection to what really matters: doing the very best for our patients and our communities. The individuals and teams celebrated here are just a small reflection of the extraordinary talent and commitment within our Trust. Every year, many more of our colleagues are recognised in their own fields, share their learning at national and international events, and volunteer their time and expertise both locally and abroad. Their contribution, professionalism and kindness are deeply appreciated.
These awards are an opportunity to pause and reflect, to recognise excellence and to take pride in the collective achievements that define Gloucestershire Hospitals. My warmest congratulations to all our shortlisted candidates and this year’s winners and my sincere thanks to everyone across our Trust who continues to make a difference every day.
