The Portering Team is vital to patient care and safety. They respond calmly to emergencies, move patients, deliver life-saving equipment and support colleagues. Their professionalism, reliability and teamwork ensure our hospitals run smoothly, making a real difference every day.
Nuclear Medicine
Diagnostics and specialties division (D&S)

The Nuclear Medicine team has shown exceptional resilience and teamwork during a year of significant challenges. Faced with a national shortage of Tc99m, they quickly implemented contingency plans to secure supplies and maintain care. Soon after, a flood disrupted their service, yet they continued to deliver high-quality care with minimal disruption. Their resourcefulness and determination ensured patient needs were always prioritised.
Despite relentless pressures, the team maintained a culture of collaboration and positivity, supporting each other while sustaining clinical standards.
Renal Wards 7A/B
Medicine division

The Renal Specialist Nurse Team created the Rapid Assessment and Procedure Unit (RAPU) on Ward 7B, enabling patients to receive timely assessment and treatment, avoiding unnecessary admissions. Patients benefit from rapid access to senior clinicians, with positive feedback on the enhanced experience.
The team manages complex renal conditions with professionalism and empathy across inpatient, outpatient and community settings. They support each other with strong communication, mentor junior colleagues and embrace innovations such as new patient education pathways. Their resilience and dedication ensure patients receive the right care in the right place, with impact extending regionally and nationally.
