Skin Cancer Team

Dermatology

Skin Cancer team

The Skin Cancer Team, including specialist nurses and Cancer Support Workers, provides diagnosis, treatment and non-medical support while promoting skin cancer awareness across Gloucestershire.

They attend community events such as golf clubs, Brownie groups and Race for Life, often in their own time, offering sun safety advice and skin checks. Their annual Cheltenham Lido session reaches around 150 people and bespoke sessions for local public sector workers have led to early detection of skin cancers. They also engage with multicultural communities via local radio and tailored outreach. Through education, prevention and early detection, the team has made an outstanding contribution to public health.

Juwairiyia worked with Gloucester City Council and Refugee Week partners to co-create the Moomin 80 celebrations, promoting welcome, safety and belonging. She collaborated with artists, migrant communities and local organisations to ensure refugees and people seeking asylum were equal partners. Highlights included a floating art installation symbolising unity and shared creativity, giving participants a safe space to express themselves.
