Glomerular Basement Membrane Antibodies
Department of Immunology
Notes
- Glomerular basement membrane (GBM) antibodies are a highly sensitive and specific marker of Goodpasture's syndrome.
- Indications include unexplained renal/lung disease (pulmonary renal syndrome) and rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. The diagnosis can be confirmed by renal biopsy immunofluorescence, which detects the same autoantibodies in situ.
- Tests are performed at the Immunology Department, Southmead Hospital.
