Notes
- This test can be requested as LUPUS which includes Coagulation Screen, DRVVT and Anti-cardiolipin antibodies.
- It can also be requested as part of a full Thrombophilia screen, please see the Thrombophilia Screen test page.
- In addition Beta 2 Glycoprotein 1 Antibodies IgG and IgM (B2GP1) may also be requested.
- Coagulation screen – Test performed at GRH and CGH.
- DRVVT – Test performed at GRH.
- Anti cardiolipin Abs – IgG test performed at GRH and IgM sent to PRU, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.
- B2GP1 - Test performed at PRU, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.
Sample Requirements
- Blood samples should ideally reach the laboratory within 2 hours. Samples greater than 24 hours old will not be tested for the coagulation screen or DRVVT.
- Coagulation tests must be performed on samples taken by clean venesection, and filled to the appropriate level (in line with black arrow or above the frosted line).
- Overfilled, underfilled and haemolysed samples will give erroneous results and will not be processed.
- Samples should not be taken from indwelling lines that have been flushed with Heparin as contamination frequently occurs despite the initial draw.
