Webinars for patients affected by cancer

This new webinar series is intended to support and inform patients affected by cancer, as well as their families and friends

These webinars are designed to be as interactive as possible, with opportunities for you to ask questions, comment and share your own experiences if you wish to.

Coping with the emotional impact of cancer: 28 June 2023

Time: 10am-12 midday

With: Dr Rachael McCarthy, Macmillan Clinical Psychologist, and Ruth Jamieson, patient

About: In this webinar we will be discussing the emotional impact that cancer can have on people and their families as well as coping strategies that can be helpful for managing the emotional rollercoaster of a cancer journey.

Ruth, a former patient, will be joining us to share her experience of having cancer and the things that helped her. The webinar will be interactive and we welcome open discussions and questions. It will also be an opportunity to make links with others.

Talking to children about cancer: 19 July 2023

Date: Wednesday 19 July

Time: 10am-12 midday

With: Dr Rachael McCarthy, Macmillan Clinical Psychologist, and Dr Caroline Leek, founder of the Fruitfly Collective.

About: This webinar will help patients who have cancer feel more confident talking to the children in their lives about their cancer and treatment.

We will discuss children's understanding of cancer, how to adapt conversations for children of different ages, and creative and practical ways of providing ongoing support to your child. The webinar will be interactive and we welcome open discussions and questions. It will also be an opportunity to make links with others.
