Acute Care Response Team

Acute Care Response Team

The Acute Care Response Team (ACRT) provides expert support for patients at critical moments in their care. Over the past five years, the team has shaped the development of advanced and enhanced clinical practice, while creating a workforce model that will support the future delivery of care within the Trust.

The ACRT has led significant improvements in patient safety and clinical care, including the implementation of Martha's Rule and projects focused on altered airways, education and workforce development. Alongside delivering expert clinical support, the team provides leadership during critical incidents and supports colleagues through debriefs and learning, strengthening care across the organisation.

Since launching in Gloucestershire in 2009, the AAA Screening Team has expanded its service to Swindon while continuing to provide screening across community hospitals and acute sites. The team works proactively to ensure all eligible patients have the opportunity to attend, tailoring support where needed and keeping care as close to home as possible.

Despite being a small team, they consistently achieve their targets and receive excellent feedback from patients and partner organisations. Staff take pride in providing a friendly, professional service and looking beyond the immediate screening appointment to connect patients with additional support when needed.
