Our awards categories aim to give as many people as possible across our divisions and professions the opportunity to be recognised and celebrated, whether by their peers or our patients
Most of our categories are nominated by staff, for staff, with the exception of our Patient's Choice award, which is open to patients and their families.

Rising Star
This award celebrates exceptional early career colleagues and students who have shown outstanding potential and commitment. Whether supporting patients directly or working behind the scenes, they have already made a positive contribution and are helping shape the future of our organisation.
Exceptional contribution to research, teaching, innovation or QI
Recognising individuals or teams who are improving care through research, teaching, innovation or quality improvement. Their work helps develop new ideas and bring about positive change, leading to better experiences and outcomes for patients and colleagues.
Community partnership award
Strong partnerships can make a lasting difference to people's health and wellbeing. This award celebrates a member of staff or team who has worked with communities, local organisations and partners to improve access to services, tackle inequalities and respond to local needs.
Fundraising team of the year
This year, this award acknowledges a team whose passion, creativity and dedication have significantly advanced charitable giving and community impact.
Living our Values annual award
Our values – Caring, Compassionate, Inclusive and Accountable – are at the heart of everything we do. Throughout the year, the Living Our Values Awards each month highlight people who stand out in their dedication and commitment to making our workplace and services the best they can be.
Team of the year
Celebrating a team that has achieved something special through outstanding teamwork. Their combined efforts have made a meaningful difference to patients, colleagues or the wider organisation and they are an example of what can be achieved when people come together with a shared purpose.
Unsung Hero of the year
Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference. This award recognises an individual whose everyday actions reflect our values and make a positive difference to those around them. They may not seek recognition, but their kindness and dedication help make Gloucestershire Hospitals a better place for patients, colleagues and visitors.
Outstanding leader of the year
Behind every successful team is a leader who supports, encourages and inspires others. This award celebrates an individual whose leadership has helped colleagues grow and achieve great things, creating a positive impact for both staff and patients.
Healthcare professional of the year
This award recognises a clinical professional whose care has made a lasting impression on patients and those around them. Through their knowledge, judgement and dedication to their profession, they set a high standard for clinical care and patient experience.
Lifetime achievement award
This year, we are recognising two special individuals who have devoted their career to caring for others and supporting the NHS. Through years of service, they have made a lasting contribution to patients, colleagues and the communities we serve.
The Patient’s Choice Award
Every day, patients, carers and families experience care and compassion that stays with them long after they leave our hospitals. The Patients' Choice Award gives them the chance to recognise an individual or team who has made a real difference to their experience at Gloucestershire Hospitals.
