Patient's Choice award
Every day, patients, carers and families experience care and compassion that stays with them long after they leave our hospitals. The Patients' Choice Award gives them the chance to recognise an individual or team who has made a real difference to their experience at Gloucestershire Hospitals.

Ron Sunga
Paediatric Nurse
When Ronnie was born, his family were told he may never walk or talk. Over the six years since, as they have navigated hundreds of hospital admissions and the challenges of his highly complex needs, Ron's quiet, unwavering presence has been a source of kindness and strength for the whole family.
The bond they have built is so special that today, Ronnie proudly describes him as his "best friend" and role model.

Elle Cawthorne
Physiotherapist
After a running injury left Michelle living with persistent pain, she found herself being passed between services with few options beyond strong painkillers, a route she did not want to take. Ellie was the first person to listen, offer hope and show that recovery was possible.
By focusing on the goals that mattered most to Michelle, including caring for her grandchildren and returning to running, Ellie helped her regain her confidence, independence and quality of life.

Deborah Durrant
Senior Liver Specialist Nurse
When Danielle was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis, she was advised that having children might not be possible. Over the next 14 years, Debbie helped her navigate the uncertainty of living with a complex condition while supporting her through marriage, pregnancy and motherhood.
Inspired by that journey, Danielle has gone on to become an advocate for others living with liver disease.
