Unsung Hero of the year
Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference. This award recognises an individual whose everyday actions reflect our values and make a positive difference to those around them. They may not seek recognition, but their kindness and dedication help make Gloucestershire Hospitals a better place for patients, colleagues and visitors.

Cameron Steed
Head and Neck
Cameron has been central to the smooth running of the Head & Neck service during a period of significant staffing pressures. Alongside managing cancer pathways and leading the cancer administration team, he has maintained the booking of cancer theatre lists and clinics, ensuring patients continue to receive timely care while supporting colleagues across the department.
Colleagues value Cameron’s practical approach and commitment to improvement. He has redesigned the way cancer pathways are monitored, improving communication across the clinical team and reducing a substantial typing backlog. Frequently working behind the scenes, he provides steady support to colleagues, patients and clinicians alike, making a vital contribution to the service every day.

James Clifford
Therapies
James has made a major contribution to improving support for neurodivergent staff across the Trust. Alongside his role as an Apprentice Occupational Therapist, he established and continues to lead the Neurodivergent Peer Support Group, creating a space where staff can share experiences, access resources and seek support. Through his work, he has raised awareness of neurodivergence and improved understanding among both colleagues and managers.
James is respected for his willingness to share his lived experience, listen without judgement and support others to access the help they need. While balancing clinical work, university studies and the challenges of his own neurodivergence, he has become a trusted source of advice for staff across the organisation. His commitment to inclusion has had real impact, improving the experience of both colleagues and patients.
A member of the Domestic/ Housekeeping team
GMS
This person was described as a valued member of the ward team whose impact is felt by patients, families and colleagues every day. He takes time to get to know the people he cares for, remembering the small details that matter and bringing a sense of normality to what can often be a difficult hospital stay. His warm, person-centred approach puts patients at ease and makes them feel cared for.
As well as maintaining high standards across the ward environment on Snowshill and Bibury Ward, he has a remarkable ability to recognise when someone needs a kind word, a listening ear or simply a cup of tea at the right moment. Colleagues describe him as dependable and dedicated, quietly contributing to the wellbeing of those around him without ever seeking recognition.

Lisa Daniels
Haematology
Lisa provides outstanding support to patients with acute myeloid leukaemia and their families, from diagnosis through treatment and recovery. She developed a custom course to support patients following intensive treatment and established a leukaemia support group, creating opportunities for education, peer support and shared experiences. She continues to play an active role in both initiatives, supporting patients’ physical and psychological recovery after intensive treatment.
Lisa is recognised for the relationships she builds with patients and colleagues alike. She celebrates important milestones with patients, supports staff wellbeing as a Wellbeing Champion and is valued for her calm, compassionate approach during challenging times. Her support reaches patients, families and colleagues when they need it most. One colleague said, "If one of my family were unwell, I'd want Lisa by their bedside."
