Our annual equality report has been written to demonstrate compliance with the Equality Act 2010, specifically the Public Sector Equality Duty contained within it.

The Act states people interacting with public services should: be treated fairly, have equitable access to services, and not experience discrimination or harassment because of:

  1. their age
  2. any disabilities they may have
  3. their sex
  4. their gender identity
  5. being in a marriage or civil partnership
  6. pregnancy or having recently had a baby
  7. their race
  8. their religion or belief system
  9. their sexual orientation

The report is also driven by a number of other legal and regulatory drivers which include:

  • Equality and Human Rights Commission - codes of practice
  • Human Rights Act 1998
  • The NHS Equality Delivery System 2 (EDS2)
  • The NHS Constitution
  • CQC – The Fundamental Standards (Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014)

We are committed to demonstrating compliance with, and ultimately becoming an exemplar regarding, the Public Sector Equality Duty and the EDS2.
