Our specialist Parkinson’s team provides care, support and treatment for people living with a confirmed diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease

Services we provide

  • Support following a diagnosis of Parkinson’s
  • One-to-one appointments including face-to-face and over the telephone
  • Group sessions for newly diagnosed patients
  • Support out in the community in the community hospitals such as Tewkesbury, North Cotswolds, Forest of Dean, Cirencester, Stroud and Dursley
  • Help and support with symptom management
  • Medication management support

Our Parkinson’s team consists of:

We also work closely with other NHS departments such as the Neurology physiotherapy team, Community Neurology Services and Health Psychology.

What to do if you are struggling with symptom management

Contact us via the Parkinson’s helpline on 0300 422 6610, This is accessible 8:00am- 4:00pm Monday-Friday (excluding bank holidays). There may not always be someone available to answer the phone therefore we encourage you to leave a voice message with your name, contact details and reason for calling.

Our nurses aim to get back to you as soon as possible to assess your ongoing symptoms. They may ask about

  • Symptoms you’re experiencing
  • Duration of symptoms
  • Current Medication

If you are experiencing symptoms that need urgent or same-day advice, please contact your GP, NHS 111 or 999 accordingly.

Blood tests

If you have been asked to do a blood test, you can do so at Cheltenham General Hospital or Gloucestershire Royal Hospital without an appointment. Please see the phlebotomy department opening times.

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scans
