Blood test services
The Phlebotomy (Blood Tests) service at the Trust is only available to specific patients

Our blood test services are for:
- Patients that require specialist test (i.e. Hotbox, test requiring samples on Ice, ESRs)
- Patients that are under the care of a hospital consultant
- Children aged between 6 and 11 years old
- Patients that have attended a GP appointment for a blood test but had a failed attempt

Phlebotomy service opening hours
- West Block Outpatients Phlebotomy Department: Monday to Friday: 08:30am to 4:30pm – Closed during bank holidays and weekends
- Edward Jenner Unit Phlebotomy Department: Monday to Friday: 08:30am to 4:45pm – Closed during bank holidays and weekends

- Monday and Friday - 9am to 12pm*
- Tuesday and Thursday - 13.00 to 17.00*
- Wednesday - Closed
Cirencester Hospital Outpatient Phlebotomy Service
Gloucestershire Health and Care services provide blood tests at Cirencester Hospital for patients aged 16 and over whose consultant requests one. Blood tests for children
If your GP or Paediatric Consultant has requested a blood test for your child.
You must bring your paper blood form from the doctor to your appointment, otherwise the blood test will not be done.
Where to book the blood test for your child
For all children over the age of 12yrs with no additional needs
- Please contact your GP service. If your GP is unable to accommodate your child, please contact Children’s Outpatients where you will be able to make an appointment at either our Gloucester or Cheltenham sites.
- Children’s Outpatients do not offer a drop-in service. This is an appointment service only. Please call either Cheltenham or Gloucester to make an appointment.

No children can attend Edward Jenner or West Block.
If your child is under 12 or has additional needs
- You will need to book an appointment at either Cheltenham or Gloucester Children’s Outpatients (see numbers above). We do not offer a drop-in service.
- Gloucester: All children up to 12 years of age or children over 6 years with additional needs up to age of 16 years.
- Cheltenham: All children 2 years to 12 years with no additional needs. If your child does not meet this criteria, you will need to book an appointment at Gloucester.
