• Only tested on specific request after discussion with a Consultant Microbiologist.

Sample requirements

4ml of blood taken into an EDTA tube

AND

8.5ml of blood taken into a plain gel tube

Stool or urine samples may also be required

Required information

• Relevant clinical details, including symptoms and date of onset
• A detailed travel history is essential including district and country visited and travel dates
• History of pre-travel vaccination and prophylaxis

Storage/transport

Transport as soon as possible at ambient temperature

If transport is delayed, store at fridge temperature
