If you have any difficulties
If you experience a lot of bleeding that does not stop, or if you feel unwell, feverish and have severe pain, please phone 999 or go to your nearest Accident
If the area is painful, take your usual pain relief.
If you are on the pill, continue to take as normal.
Please contact the department for further information if screening is required.
NIV will be used if these treatments do not help you to get better.
Please telephone the scan department if you know you will be late.
If this is the case, it can be assessed by taking regular blood tests.
What to do if you are having problems
If this becomes heavy, has a bad smell or if you are concerned, please contact your GP.
If specialist coagulation tests are requested, one or more aliquots may be frozen until analysis (or up to two months) at between -15 and -40°C.
If unavoidable, samples can be stored refrigerated overnight.
You will be informed if this is the case.
If in doubt please consult your diabetes or maternity team.
If your eyes are red or sore you should remove your lenses immediately. If the discomfort persists you should contact the Eye Casualty for advice.
If the bleeding becomes heavy, has a bad smell or if you are concerned, please contact your GP.
This will enable you to contact them if you have any concerns or if you no longer wish to use this service.
However, new medication should be stopped if there is no clear benefit or if there are significant side effects.
