Macmillan Cancer Support Information Hub

The service offers support and information to anyone who has concerns about cancer, their relatives, friends and carers.

Information on the Hub

When you've got cancer, you can sometimes struggle to get the information you need. Other times, you're overwhelmed with information and you can't take it all in.

That's why Macmillan has worked with Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to create this new Macmillan Information Hub.

The Hub is open between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday and is a place to get information, support and signposting with the help of staff and trained volunteers, no matter what stage of the cancer journey you’re at.

Whether its questions about treatment, help with signs and symptoms, finances, diet and exercise, or understanding what support networks there are available the Macmillan hub can help.

Since opening the Hub at the beginning of September over 650 people have chosen to access the Hub for information and support. We cannot offer this support and help on our own, our Volunteers are vital to the success of the Hub and I am delighted to have a growing team of volunteers working and joining the Hub.

Referral for patients

Help includes practical aspects of living with cancer from finance and benefits support from a Macmillan Benefits Advisor who visits the Hub weekly to travel insurance. They can also help with information on health promotion, prevention and detection of cancer. The service can also put you in touch with other groups and organisations that we think will be able to help you, including the Macmillan benefits advice service, the Macmillan Next Steps programme, and local support groups.
To access the service either drop in (no appointment needed), give them a call, or email.

For health professionals

The Hub will give your patients the chance to ask questions and talk through their concerns with specialist staff and trained volunteers, no matter what stage of the cancer journey they're at. The centre will provide information and support on a wide variety of cancer types as well as financial, emotional, physical and practical support, like advice on diet or claiming benefits with the help a Specialist Macmillan Benefits Advisor who visits the Hub on a weekly basis.
