The test can be ordered as an urgent request.
If unavoidable, sample can be stored refrigerated overnight.
For a sample to be treated as urgent, the laboratory must be notified on 0300 422 4219/3314.
You may want to bring something to read as you will be expected to rest while waiting for the second blood sample to be taken.
When can a sample of urine be taken?
Will the procedure be uncomfortable?
Normally this will be given once a day until you go home but may be longer in some cases.
If your appointment does need to be rescheduled, you will be contacted directly.
You may also be examined standing up.
A biopsy can be uncomfortable and may require you to have a local anaesthetic. This will numb the area where the biopsy is to be taken.
They will then decide whether you need to be seen and which service will be the most help to you.
If there is any concern that there may be a more serious injury, you will be contacted and asked to come in for a follow up appointment.
This could be also as greeter awareness and testing for delirium.
If current medication is not provided, analysis may be delayed as this is required before samples can be referred.
You will be sent a letter if we need you to do this.
