Follow-up
You may sip water up to 2 hours before your appointment time.
It is important that you don’t become dehydrated and clear fluids can be drunk up to 2 hours before the time of your appointment.
This energy is then picked up by the gamma camera scanner and images are taken.
Soak up the spillage using the absorbent pads provided then put them in the orange bag. Allow the area to dry.
Over the next few weeks, the piles then shrivel up, hopefully leading to an improvement in your symptoms.
However, it may take up to a month to get the full effect from this medication.
To bring the level back up, a blood transfusion of RBCs can be given intravenously (through a drip).
Up to 5 mononuclear cells, 0-5 red blood cells, Glucose level 60-70% of plasma values, protein =<0.4 g/L, lower in the ventricles.
Generally, patients can use the medication for up 6 months without any significant issues around thinning of bone (ostepaenia/osteoporosis).
The shortest length of time for having this treatment is 46 hours, but it can be up to 1 week in some cases.
