You will not be able to eat or drink anything for 6 hours before your operation. This is to make sure that we can safely give you an anaesthetic.
Most people will be asked to go to their GP for a 6-week postnatal check.
You are therefore asked not to have anything to eat for at least 6 hours before your appointment time.
The procedure will take about 1 hour but you should expect to be with us for 6 hours.
This operation takes about 5 to 10 minutes but you will in hospital for a few hours.
This will usually be every 3 to 6 months but may be reduced to once a year.
If you have had treatment (LLETZ), then you will need to have a cervical cytology test in 6 months, usually with your GP.
This will be enough stock for 3 to 5 weeks. The order will include 5 to 7 days of overlap stock.

You will be seen in the outpatient clinic about 6 weeks after your discharge.
The results of the biopsy may take up to 6 weeks and will be sent to you and your GP.

Gradually increase your intake of fibre over a 3 to 5 day period. Make sure you also increase your fluid intake to 6 to 8 glasses per day.
