This will involve clearing the bowel of stool (faeces) by using strong laxatives and drinking an iodine or barium-based liquid with meals on the day before
The HME must be replaced daily to make sure the filter is clean and should only be worn during the day.

Most patients will be discharged the same day as the procedure.
