Area of expertise
Dr Francis trained at Southampton University Medical School qualifying in 1990. After working in trauma and Salisbury's spinal unit, he specialised in anaesthesia, working in Portsmouth, Cardiff and Cambridge.
While at Cambridge, he became interested in Pain Medicine before completing his specialist pain training at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London. As a consultant, Dr Francis has taken a keen interest in medical education and has recently taken up a post as Associate Dean for Quality for Health Education South West, having previously been Director of Medical Education for the Trust.
