During this time, we recommend that you use sanitary towels and avoid tampons.
This is due to the pressure of the cuff and may take 1 to 2 days to disappear.

Avoid pulling hard at the top of the stocking. Check that the toe and ankle piece is in place.
Avoid sitting beneath air ducts or directly in front of car heater fans. You should also try to avoid going out in very windy conditions.

This visit may take up to 1 to 2 hours to complete.
Blood transfusion - about 1 in 4 of our patients need a blood transfusion after surgery as bones do bleed a lot.

From week commencing 1 November 2021
The pain should get better gradually over 1 to 2 weeks after the surgery.
This will avoid any water flowing back into the device.
Breakfast 7:15 am Lunch 1:15 pm Supper 6:00 pm Hot drinks are served several times throughout the day.
Try to take the medicines at the same time each day to avoid missing any doses.
Take care to avoid knocking your leg or residual limb.
Avoid drinking alcohol. Eat a nutritionally well-balanced diet.
It is advisable to avoid swimming until all the wounds have healed and any vaginal discharge has cleared up.
