The acute medicine team sees a complex mix of acutely unwell medical patients on the acute medical unit (AMU) in GRH.
AMU is located on level two of the Trauma Unit. It provides rapid assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with urgent medical and conditions. It also enables patients with acute conditions to be closely observed by an expert multiprofessional team.

Please note: Smoking is not permitted in any building or within the grounds of any of our sites. Information and support is available to any patients who wish to stop smoking. Nicotine Replacement Therapy is available to help reduce your cravings during your stay.
Free Wifi is available on all our wards. If you have any difficulty accessing this, please speak to a member of ward staff.
Mealtimes and catering
You will be given a choice from a daily menu for all our freshly prepared meals. Ward staff will advise you of the meal times, which may vary slightly from ward to ward.
Beverages: Served throughout the day.

Following your stay in AMU, you may be admitted to a specialist ward, transferred for further care elsewhere or discharged home. The team responsible for your care will discuss this with you.
