AMU provides rapid assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with urgent medical and surgical conditions.

We see a complex mix of patients and our multi-professional team are able provide close observation and expert care.


You will be given a choice from a daily menu for all of our freshly prepared meals.

Ward staff will be able to advise you of meal times, as they may vary from ward to ward.

Going home

Following your stay in AMU, you may be:

  • admitted to a specialist ward
  • transferred for further care elsewhere
  • discharged home

The team responsible for your care while you’re on AMU will be able to discuss this with you.
