The Edward Jenner Unit provides three distinct specialist services from one central location at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. It also provides a Blood Test Service for GP patients and outpatients.

Specialist Services: 

The Unit provides services for Haematology; Immunology and Allergy; and Haemaglobinopathy for patients with a broad range of conditions.  All these specialties provide outpatient consultation and follow up as well as day case management.

Blood Test services:

An open service to GP patients and outpatients is provided daily in Edward Jenner Department between 08.00-16.45 hours. Please note: the department may close earlier than stated due to high patient activity.

The Edward Jenner Unit has Haematology clinics running on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday morning. At this time the unit can be very busy with a possible waiting time of over 1 hour for a blood test. 

We accept children for blood tests from age 6 years and above. Children under the age of 6 should have blood taken at the Children's Outpatient Department at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Please contact Children's Outpatients on 0300 422 8383  to arrange an appointment.
