Specialty Director for Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery

Mr Bigsby is an internationally trained Upper Limb Surgeon, with expertise in both open and arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist. He manages both sports injuries as well as degenerative conditions, as well as having an interest in trauma care.

He is Specialty Director for Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery here at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Bigsby runs regular fracture clinics and trauma operating lists covering all aspects of trauma care, as well as elective clinics throughout the county specialising in the upper limb (shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand).

Some of the procedures performed by Mr Bigsby include:

Shoulder procedures: Reverse shoulder replacement, anatomic shoulder replacement, latarjet procedures, arthroscopic labral repair, biceps tenodesis / tenotomy, rotator cuff repairs and reconstructions, frozen shoulder release, acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) surgery, subacromial decompression, surgery for shoulder impingement and bursitis, fracture fixations (including clavicle, humerus).

Elbow procedures: Total elbow replacement, elbow hemiarthroplasty, arthroscopic and open procedures for elbow pain and stiffness, radial head replacement surgery, ulnar nerve release (cubital tunnel decompression), tennis / golfers elbow release, biceps tendon repair, fracture fixations (including olecranon, radius, ulna).

Hand & wrist procedures: Dupuytrens surgery, trigger finger release, carpal tunnel decompression, finger and wrist fusions / partial fusions, trapeziectomy, basal thumb arthritis surgery, ligament repairs / reconstructions, fracture fixations (including wrist fractures, scaphoid fractures, carpal fractures, phalanx fractures), tendon repairs / reconstructions.
